Geography
The Year 7 – 10 Geography Australian Curriculum is organised into two interrelated branches: Geographical Knowledge and Understanding as well as Geographical Inquiry and Skills. These branches include a study of environmental and human aspects of Geography at local, regional, national, and global scales.
Each area involves students developing the ability to see the relationships between geographical concepts (place, space, environment, interconnection, sustainability, scale and change), to construct explanatory frameworks to illustrate relationships.
The Australian Curriculum in Economics and Business is also incorporated into Geography.
In SACE Stage 1 and 2 Geography students use a process of inquiry by which they learn new geographical knowledge and deepen their understanding. This is developed through investigations that involve observations or questions, the collection and interpretation of information to develop conclusions. There is an emphasis on the techniques that geographers use in the field and in the classroom.
